As the Spring semester comes to a close, we are thrilled to celebrate two of our master’s students in the Gnecco Lab who defended their theses last May, and graduated with flying colors!

Siqi Krystal Zhang successfully defended her project, Genetic Engineering of Endometrial Epithelial Organoids using CRISPR/Cas. Her work included the creation of an SOP that outlines critical protocols for genetic engineering of primary cultures, paving the way for a streamlined pipeline in our lab. Siqi is now off to pursue her Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she will undoubtedly continue to contribute groundbreaking work in reproductive sciences.

Grace Hamilton defended her project, co-advised by Dr. Gnecco and the Silk Lab, on The Development of Next-Generation Modular Intrauterine Devices (IUDs) Using Silk-Fibroin Biomaterials. This innovative and inclusive approach to creating less invasive contraceptive devices is a testament to Grace’s ingenuity and passion for advancing women’s health.

We are incredibly proud of Siqi and Grace for their achievements and excited to see them embark on the next stage of their careers. Their hard work, creativity, and collaboration have left a lasting impact on the Gnecco Lab, and we’re grateful to have been part of their journeys at Tufts!

Congratulations to both of you—your futures are bright!
